Below
is a "Family Quilt", measuring approx. 8 X 10 feet, featuring the milestones
and hobbies of this family's history: from Mom's wedding gown and Dad's baby shoes,
to the boys' baby shoes and images of their homes. Some of the boys' favourite
pastimes were playing hockey, riding bicycles and snowboards, fishing and piano,
all illustrated here. Dad's old motorcycle and bike pants are also included, as
are Mom's medals from Chorus Championships. Most of the fabric used comes from
remnants that were saved from projects made over the years. All these details were
made from photographs supplied by the owners.

Contact" in 2005.)
The
queen size duvet cover, above,
and it's matching cushion, below it left,
were derived from a Hawaiian pattern of the sacred Green Sea Turtle (or Honu)
design. The central medallion applique of the Honu and the wave with intricate
"splash" embroidery in holographic thread, are sewn to a fern pattern
batik and then backed by sea green taffeta, which appropriately suggests water
with it's "water-mark or moire" weave and satiny texture.
